Melissa Reed Page is in her thirty-first year as a drill team director. She has directed at Brenham High School, Blinn Junior College, and has been the director for the Award Winning Emerald Belles from Southlake, Texas, since 1997.
Under her leadership, the Emerald Belles were invited to perform on one of the nation’s most important stages, America’s Got Talent Season 14, where they advanced to the quarterfinals live show. The Belles have been featured on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Good Morning Texas, halftime high kick performance for Dallas Mavericks in 2020, halftime performers for Dallas Cowboys in 2019 and 2020, Kidd Kraddick Show, and performances on cruise lines, Disney World, and Fiesta Texas. The Belles were awarded the “Best Dance Team/Wow Award” by the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders/CMT Making The Team for their contest high kick routine.
Melissa was awarded the 2019 Brian R. Stebbins Award by Southlake Style for her impact on the Southlake community. She was also named the 2020 Chauncey Willingham Award for Outstanding Dragon Faculty winner and recognized as “Empowered Woman of the Year” by Women Empowered 2021 hosted by Southlake Chamber of Commerce. She has received accolades from the Texas Dance Educators' Association, including being a finalist for the Lifetime Achievement Award and being awarded Director of the year in 2022.
Melissa is highly sought after for her choreography and technical skills in high kick and currently teaches high kick classes to the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. She has recently been featured on two episodes of CMT Making The Team Season 16 as a guest instructor. In addition, she has led an officer leadership workshop for Crowd Pleasers and spoken to the American Dance Drill Team camp about her passion for spreading kindness within drill teams and their community.
Melissa graduated cum laude from Texas State University in 1993. She was a member of the Texas State Strutters, Orchesis Dance, and an officer in Chi Omega Sorority. Melissa started dancing at the age of three, and she’s been high-kicking ever since.
Kathryn Dobrow is the backbone behind the Emerald Belles Drill team handling all the operational and administrative tasks associated with running this extremely large organization. Mrs. Dobrow wears many hats to ensure consistent and smooth implementation of daily organizational procedures needed to run this team. No task is too big for our behind the scenes Super Hero, she has the perfect balance of patience and creativity paired with financial, administrative and logistical expertise to seamlessly run our team.
In addition to managing the Belles, Mrs. Dobrow currently teaches AP and Pre-AP Calculus at Carroll Senior High School and has been the lead math instructor for the Carroll ISD Premier SAT/PSAT Academy since 2000. Since that time, she has served as a testing consultant throughout the state of Texas and has helped many school districts initiate programs to enable their students to increase scores on the College Boards. Mrs. Dobrow has developed a phenomenal math curriculum for TestWise, which has proven to be effective for countless students.
